Environmental Technician

Landfill Gas & Environmental Monitoring

The Environmental Technician plays a critical role in supporting landfill gas collection, environmental compliance, and field remediation activities. This position requires HAZWOPER certification , strong experience in environmental fieldwork or environmental remediation , and the ability to accurately record and document gas leak data while performing physically demanding outdoor labor.

Technicians will work 8–10 hours per day in an outdoor landfill environment, supporting gas system operations, emissions monitoring, and general site maintenance.

• Gas Leak Data Recording — Conduct field monitoring, document readings, and maintain accurate environmental records.
• Environmental Fieldwork — Support landfill gas recovery systems, migration control systems, and environmental compliance tasks.
• Perform general labor including digging, soil placement, and covering waste areas.
• Clean, inspect, and maintain landfill gas flares and related equipment.
• Assist in operating and maintaining landfill gas collection systems to ensure efficient renewable energy conversion.
• Monitor emissions and system performance to support regulatory compliance.
• Follow landfill safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
• Support site foremen and environmental staff as needed.
• Demonstrate initiative, reliability, and strong independent work habits.

• HAZWOPER 40‑Hour Certification (Required)
• Experience in environmental technician work, environmental remediation, or field environmental operations
• Ability to work outdoors for long periods in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable with physically demanding labor
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and documentation
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and ability to follow safety procedures
• Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting and maintaining gas system components

• Prior work in landfill operations, gas collection systems, or industrial environmental monitoring
• Familiarity with GD&T , field instrumentation, or environmental sampling equipment
• Experience supporting renewable energy or methane recovery systems

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Fernando, CA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
