Position Summary: We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Early Childhood Specialist - M-F - 8a - 4p, 9a - 5p or 10a - 6p (Masters required Birth -2nd). In this role, the successful candidate The Early Childhood Specialist serves an integral role in unifying curricular practices across all Early Childhood programs under the guidance of the Director of Early Childhood Services. The Specialist maintains deep knowledge of DOHMH, DOE, UPK, DAP, NAEYC, Quality Stars NY, Creative Curriculum, ITERS/ECERS, CLASS, ASQ, and DYCD standards and monitors compliance across all programs within Sunset Park Health Council. The Specialist provides technical assistance, instructional coaching, professional development, and family engagement support. In addition, this role collaborates with the EarlyLearn network to enhance professional development opportunities and supports school-age program quality through curriculum and content development aligned with COMPASS requirements. In addition, the role has expanded to include coordinating Special Education services in partnership with program directors and teaching staff by providing coaching and guidance on IEP/IFSP implementation, supporting families throughout the Special Education process, and serving as the designated in-charge professional during leadership absences to ensure program continuity and compliance. Job Responsibilities: Monitor the implementation of standards across all early childhood programs. Observe classroom environments, instruction, interactions, and overall tone. Provide written and verbal feedback to teachers and directors to improve instructional practices and program quality. Work with teachers to define individual goals for children and plan instructional strategies. Support teachers in identifying age-appropriate group goals. Collaborate with teachers and directors to determine professional development needs. Observe individual children and provide feedback to support differentiated instructional planning. Serve as a resource for teachers, directors, and families. Provide professional development sessions aligned with programmatic and curricular needs. Coordinate PD opportunities for teachers, directors, substitutes, and families. Meet with staff to review observations, create work plans, and set professional goals. Provide additional resources to staff to support their professional growth goals. Provide and/or arrange workshops for parents and families. Stay informed on research and issues affecting early childhood programs, children, and families within the communities served. Provide curriculum, instructional, and program quality support for school-age programs -- including aligning enrichment content to COMPASS RFP requirements, developing activity plans, conducting observations, offering coaching and professional development, supporting SEL and youth engagement strategies, reviewing program quality data, and assisting with documentation and preparation for DYCD monitoring. Additional Position Specific Responsibilities: Additional Special Education Coordination Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and oversee all Special Education services in collaboration with program directors, including liaising with CPSE/CSE teams, evaluators, SEITs, and therapists; scheduling and monitoring mandated services; and ensuring timely, compliant delivery and documentation across programs.
2. Support program directors and teaching teams with implementing IEP/IFSP goals, providing coaching on embedding goals into daily routines, using accommodations and inclusive practices, and ensuring alignment between provider reports and classroom instructional expectations.
3. Coordinate with program directors to guide families and staff through the Special Education process, participating in IEP/IFSP meetings as needed, helping families understand procedures and services, and offering training on strategies to support diverse learners.
4. Serve as the designated in-charge professional during leadership absences, ensuring operational compliance, continuity of services, and fulfillment of certified staff responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications: To qualify you must have a MSED in Early Childhood Education (required) Teacher certification in the early childhood or childhood grades (required). Required Licenses: Teacher Certificate-NYS Preferred Qualifications: Qualifications Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education or Education Extensive early childhood teaching and coaching experience Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 2 months through 5 years; and experience working with or supporting school-age K-5 programs Experience coordinating staff development workshops Knowledge of NAEYC accreditation standards and Creative Curriculum.
