Public Transportation Driver

The Orange County Transportation Services Department has an opening for 2 Public Transportation Drivers and a Public Transportation List Driver. The Public Transportation List Driver will not have an assigned route. An employee of this class is responsible for transporting residents over specified routes based on a designated time schedule. Work involves providing a safe, reliable, efficient, and customer friendly transit service to all residents of Orange County, completing a manifest, maintaining knowledge of Orange County road systems, and providing administrative support by assisting in the Orange County Public Transportation (OCPT) office as needed. Work is performed under the general direction of the Transportation Administrator, with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties, both in terms of planning and accomplishing work, and in making decisions regarding needs and requests. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. This is a safety sensitive position and participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required. Background Check is required. Fitness for Duty Assessment is required. Current MVR required. You must have a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement issued by the State of North Carolina.
