Radiology Technologist

Job Summary The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs of the body, following protocols established by the ER physician and radiologist. The technologist will position patients and tables to obtain optimum views of the requested body area, and practice radiation safety with the ALARA principle, using beam‑restrictive devices, patient shielding, and appropriate exposure factors to maximize protection for patients and staff. The technologist will also operate CT scan equipment to produce computed tomography (CT) scans as directed by the ER physician and radiologist protocol. Responsibilities include administering contrast (IV and oral), monitoring for reactions, completing necessary documentation, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction while producing exams of diagnostic quality. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Maintain awareness of departmental policies and procedures. Assist in maintenance of all equipment, including cleaning and QA procedures. Explain benefits and risks of procedures and exams to patients. Prepare patients for examination, including contrast administration and IV placement. Complete all necessary contrast, extravasation, pregnancy, and other pre‑exam forms. Implement safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure. Stay current with diagnostic radiology and CT procedures performed in the department. Apply basic anatomical and radiological principles to obtain diagnostic‑quality images. Troubleshoot minor equipment issues and perform basic repairs. Use appropriate body mechanics when moving patients and equipment. Communicate problems and concerns to appropriate personnel. Provide safe transportation of patients to and from the patient care unit. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology school. Minimum of 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience, including CT experience. Language / Math / Reasoning Ability Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Write simple correspondence. Effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings. Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) in various units of measure. Compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs. Apply common‑sense reasoning to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions and solve problems involving concrete variables. Certifications / Licenses Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Current state licensure. Current BCLS certification (Texas: ARRT (R) (CT) and TDH/TMB; Colorado and Rhode Island: ARRT (R) (CT)). #J-18808-Ljbffr Altus Community Healthcare
