Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a vital role in protecting, promoting, and optimizing health and abilities, preventing illness and injury, and alleviating suffering through effective diagnosis and treatment of human responses. This position emphasizes advocacy in the care of individuals and families, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards of practice and professional development. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment focused on patient-centered care.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, delegate, coordinate, implement, and evaluate nursing care while managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse as designated by unit assignment.
• Educate patients and families on health promotion and disease management utilizing available resources.
• Administer medications safely according to established policies and procedures.
• Contribute to productivity and effective resource utilization, including staffing, time management, and materials.
• Comply with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Participate actively in the Nursing Shared Governance Model to support unit councils and contribute to improvement initiatives.
• Engage in professional development, continuing education, and complete all mandatory training requirements.
• Integrate current evidence and nursing research into practice.
• Provide a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.
• Perform duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role as assigned.
• Assume additional responsibilities as required.

Education:

• Required: Associate's degree from an accredited school of Nursing.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing.

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Current Registered Nurse License in New York State.
• BLS Certification (AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross).
• Unit-specific requirements as listed in the Compliance Matrix.

Preferred Certifications & Licensure:

• Professional certification in a nursing specialty related to the role.

Schedule:

• 12-night shifts, 36 hours per week, every other weekend.

• BLS
• ACLS
• PALS
• TNCC
