Unit Support Assistant

Location: Houston, TX

Pay Rate: Starting at $15.00/hour

Schedule: Monday-Friday | 5:30 AM-2:00 PM (including weekend rotation)

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Unit Support Assistant to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This role primarily focuses on patient discharge cleaning and Environmental Services , helping maintain a safe, clean, and sanitary environment for patients, families, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and disinfection of assigned patient care areas according to established infection control and safety procedures.

• Prioritize patient discharge cleaning to support timely room turnover.

• Respond promptly to emergency spills and complete cleanup using approved procedures.

• Safely use and dispense cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer recommendations.

• Clean and maintain vents, exhausts, intake air grills, and supply grills.

• Sweep, dust, clean, and remove debris as directed by leadership.

• Properly handle, transport, and dispose of general and hazardous waste when assigned.

• Maintain and monitor cleaning equipment, supplies, and chemicals.

• Perform room checkout duties when assigned to ensure efficient room turnaround.

• Clean and set up rooms for special events and functions as needed.

• Assist with other unit support duties as assigned.

• Follow all hospital safety, infection control, and Environmental Services standards.

Parking will be provided by the department.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant experience may be considered.

• Previous housekeeping or Environmental Services experience required .

• Prior hospital Environmental Services experience preferred.

• Experience in healthcare, hospitality, or contract cleaning services is a plus.

• Knowledge of standard housekeeping, sanitation, and chemical safety procedures.

• Ability to safely operate standard cleaning and floor-care equipment.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and staff.

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

• Must successfully complete required departmental training for Unit Support Assistants.
