Land Development Engineer – Job Description
Location: Fairfax County, VA
Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire
Position Overview
Our client is seeking Land Development Engineers with 4–10+ years of civil engineering experience to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of challenging projects across both the public and private sectors.
Responsibilities
- Design and manage land development and site engineering projects from concept through completion.
- Prepare site plans, grading plans, stormwater management designs, utility layouts, and infrastructure plans.
- Perform civil engineering design and calculations for residential, commercial, government, and infrastructure projects.
- Utilize Civil 3D and AutoCAD for design and plan production.
- Coordinate with Civil Engineers, Landscape Architects, Planners, Surveyors, and other project professionals.
- Work with public-sector, private-sector, and federal clients.
- Assist with permitting, agency coordination, and technical documentation.
- Support project schedules, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining quality standards.
Projects may include:
- Mixed-use and transit-oriented developments
- Residential and commercial developments
- Government facilities
- Office developments
- Utilities and infrastructure
- Mission-critical and data center projects
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- 4–10+ years of civil engineering/land development experience.
- Strong experience with site planning, stormwater management, grading, utilities, and infrastructure design.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
- EIT or PE license is a plus.
