Laser Operator - 2nd and weekend shift

Location: Tulsa, OK
Pay: $25–$30/hr + 11.5% Shift Differential
Shifts Available: 2nd Shift & Weekend Shift
Industry: Manufacturing / Sheet Metal Fabrication

HireCall is seeking an experienced Laser Operator for a valued client in Tulsa. This is a technician-level position for someone with strong hands-on experience operating and troubleshooting fiber laser cutting equipment in a high-production manufacturing environment.

This is NOT an entry-level machine operator position.

Available Shifts

2nd Shift:
Monday–Thursday
4:30 PM–3:00 AM
11.5% shift differential applies

Weekend Shift:
Friday–Sunday
6:00 AM–6:00 PM
11.5% shift differential applies

The successful candidate will have experience working with Bystronic fiber laser systems, automated material handling, machine diagnostics, cutting parameters, and routine machine maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

• Operate advanced Bystronic fiber laser cutting systems safely and efficiently, including 6kW and 15kW systems.

• Monitor production schedules and maintain continuous machine operation.

• Troubleshoot machine faults, alarms, automation issues, and cutting-quality problems.

• Perform lens changes, nozzle changes, centering procedures, and routine optical maintenance.

• Make adjustments to cutting parameters to improve cut quality and production efficiency.

• Evaluate finished cuts and make corrections as needed.

• Diagnose issues involving assist gases, consumables, material conditions, and machine performance.

• Operate and monitor automated loading, unloading, storage, and parts-sorting systems.

• Minimize downtime through effective troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.

• Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance.

• Verify part quality using blueprints, work instructions, and inspection tools.

• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records.

• Communicate equipment concerns and improvement opportunities to supervisors and maintenance personnel.

• Support continuous improvement efforts focused on safety, quality, productivity, and cost reduction.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of laser cutting experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Hands-on experience operating fiber laser cutting equipment.

• Strong troubleshooting skills with CNC laser systems.

• Ability to understand machine diagnostics, alarms, and fault codes.

• Experience changing lenses and nozzles and performing machine setup adjustments.

• Understanding of cutting parameters and their effect on quality and productivity.

• Ability to read blueprints and manufacturing drawings.

• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with Bystronic laser systems.

• Experience with ByTrans Extend automation.

• Experience with automated material towers and parts-sorting systems.

• Preventive maintenance experience.

• Familiarity with assist gases, beam delivery systems, and laser optics.

• Forklift and overhead crane experience.

• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to work around moving machinery and automated equipment.

• Ability to wear required PPE.

We are looking for an experienced, technician-level Laser Operator — not someone whose experience is limited to loading material and starting machine cycles.

The ideal candidate will be able to:

• Think critically and troubleshoot problems as they occur.

• Diagnose machine and automation issues.

• Make informed process and cutting-parameter adjustments.

• Understand how material, consumables, assist gases, and machine settings affect cutting performance.

• Take ownership of machine uptime and part quality.

• Work independently with minimal supervision.
