Field Service Technician, Mid-Atlantic - For Future Consideration

Responsibilities Perform or assist with assigned vehicle diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections, whether at a service center or in the field directly at customer homes, businesses, or other convenient locations. Identify and explain the Rivian product line, EV framework, tools, and accessories. Utilize available technical resources to follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality or safety. Conduct road tests to ensure the quality of repairs. Manage necessary parts operations, including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory. Identify areas of improvement and provide feedback to senior technicians or leadership. Support service campaigns and containment initiatives. Ensure that all work and technical notes are properly documented for internal and external use. Work collaboratively with a team and maintain high-quality work with minimal supervision. Communicate with a high level of professionalism in customer-facing situations. Stay current with technical skills and complete required training. Qualifications High School Diploma, GED, or other recognized high school equivalency credential preferred Proficient in using hand tools and power tools. Must be at least 21 years old. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, with no driving-related suspensions or revocations within a 3-5 year period. Ability to drive a non-commercial truck and trailer is preferred. Must be available for a 40-hour work week, which may include weekends, holidays, and shifts during early morning, evening, or overnight hours based on business needs. Proficient with laptops or computers in Windows or Mac environments. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn. Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs., sitting, standing, walking, and frequent use of hands for grasping tools and data entry. Physical exertion may be required to perform occupational tasks (sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.). Ability to read and speak fluent English. Ability to see, read and interpret documents such as governmental regulations, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions or schematics. This role may require regular interaction with customers and their families, 3rd party affiliates, and suppliers within Rivian facilities, on mobile service routes, or at community outreach events. Experience Hands-on work experience in an automotive shop is highly preferred. This role is open to various levels of experience, from entry-level to career technicians A background in electric vehicle (EV) or hybrid repair is considered a plus. Experience in start-up environments is preferred. Experience with parts departments, billing, and work order management systems is preferred. Spectrum of Technical Skills Low Voltage & Electrical Systems: Foundational understanding of basic electricity theory, ability to safely use a DVOM, read electrical schematics, and diagnose using automotive electronics including CAN and LIN networks. High Voltage Systems: Understanding risks, safe power-down procedures, and diagnostics for charging, isolation, and interlock loop issues using manufacturer processes. Chassis, Brakes & Suspension: Proficiency in chassis service, tire mounting/balancing, alignments, brake components, drivetrain NVH issues, and related diagnostics. Thermal Systems: Ability to service coolant and HVAC systems, with 609 certification, and use A/C equipment to diagnose thermal concerns. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): Basic understanding of ADAS features, component replacement, calibrations, and knowledge of system limitations. Body & Glass: Responsibilities related to body work, glass removal/installation, windshields, and related tolerances and leak issues. Pay Disclosure The salary range for this role varies by location (Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Kentucky). The range is provided in good faith at the time of posting and can be influenced by competencies, education, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.
