Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Finish Carpenter to add to our growing team in West Michigan. This carpenter will be responsible for installing and finishing interior and exterior woodwork, cabinetry, trim, doors, windows, and custom millwork while adhering to project specifications and deadlines. You'll efficiently on active job sites, interpret hardware and door schedules, and contribute to high-quality finishes in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Install fixtures including windows, doors, cabinetry, and trim in residential and commercial projects.
• Install, adjust, and perform quality control on architectural door hardware including panic bars, door closers, hinges, handles, handsets, locksets, and kick plates on commercial doors.
• Ensure all installed hardware is level, plumb, properly aligned, and fully operational according to project specifications and industry standards.
• Read and interpret hardware schedules, door schedules, and construction drawings to plan and execute installations accurately.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and a tape measure confidently and accurately to complete finish carpentry and hardware installation tasks.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• 3+ years of residential and/or commercial finish and trim carpentry experience.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for installations.
• Proficient use of hand tools, power tools, and a tape measure, with accurate measurement and layout skills.
• Capability to work safely and effectively on active construction sites, including hospitals, airports, and data centers.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team, maintaining productivity and quality standards.
• Exposure to rough carpentry tasks that support finish work and hardware installation.

Work Environment

Work on active commercial construction sites in a fast-paced, schedule-driven setting that includes indoor and occasional outdoor conditions. Current and recent projects include facilities such as airports, hospitals, and data centers, providing exposure to complex, high-profile environments. The standard schedule is first shift, typically starting between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. and ending between 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. You may work independently or as part of a crew, using a variety of hand and power tools on finished interiors and door systems. The work involves navigating active job sites, following safety protocols, and maintaining a professional appearance appropriate for commercial construction settings.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Rapids, MI.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
