Ignite Digital Services is seeking a mid/senior-level electrical engineer to support Government clients with power system design, fabrication, testing and evaluation. This role supports the Tactical Integrated Data Ecosystem (TIDE) operational and mission requirements through the development of power generation and distribution systems across the TIDE Ecosystem and components, including through the design, fabrication, integration, testing, and evaluation of AC/DC power systems supporting battery, solar, renewable, & alternative energy solutions. The role requires hands-on engineering expertise in power conversion, energy storage, and system-level integration in mission environments. In this role you will own the technical design and decisions related electrical and power systems, components, and integration across the TIDE platform working alongside mechanical and system engineers to develop and deploy a survivable and modular data collection package for our clients. You're a good fit for this role if you have experience working in a rapid prototyping lab, electrical and power systems design and hands on fabrication experience, the ability to engage across multiple domains to respond to changing requirements and milestones. You're a great fit if you have all this plus relevant experience working within a DoW environment to develop and deploy modular sensing payloads.

Responsibilities:

• Position breakdown: 50% design, 30% fabrication, 20% testing
• Lead and own end-to-end power generation systems design and development to include battery, solar, alternative power sources from requirements analysis through fabrication and deployment
• Define system requirements for power generation, distribution, and management, including power electronics, converters, and power factor correction
• Develop and execute test plans for validating system performance and reliability, including designing automated test setups
• Hands-on experience with building and integrating hardware components, circuit boards, and embedded systems for custom RF sensing payloads
• Lead design and construction of custom RF and other sensing packages, fabricate and code control systems to operate payload packages within the modular buoy platform
• Strong analytical skills for diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues related to electrical systems and components
• Assist with defining system interfaces and APIs for enabling interactions across applications and sub-systems
• Perform trade-off analysis on power, weight, and other attributes to determine sensor package requirements
• Evaluate and document system specific modularity and interoperability between systems platforms

Required Qualifications:

• 6 -10 years experience supporting a systems electrical engineering role
• Education - Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Experience designing and testing AC and DC power systems
• Experience with power conversion systems (AC/DC, DC/DC, inverters, rectifiers)
• Experience in hardware design, prototyping, and lab validation
• Past performance utilizing Altium or equivalent software for PCB and circuit systems design
• Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools. i.e. Jira, Confluence, MS Projects

Desired Qualifications:

• Strong skills in Python, MATLAB, and others relevant to system development and automation
• Ability to translate mission requirements into engineering designs
• Strong technical writing (test plans, reports, white papers)
• Experience briefing technical results to leadership
• Independent work with minimal supervision
• Active Secret Clearance

Schedule: 100% onsite in Charleston, SC

Salary: 115k+ to align with experience and education
