Job Title: Social Worker - Oncology Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital The Mount Sinai Hospital is a 1,134-bed facility with an extensive outpatient and specialty care network and is the largest hospital in the Mount Sinai Health Care System. Social Workers collaborate within interprofessional teams to serve patients and the larger community from both a micro and macro level including both direct care and prevention. Founded in 1907, the Department of Social Work Services at the Mount Sinai Hospital is one of the oldest hospital social work departments in the nation with over 450 licensed social workers employed across more than 65 different program/service areas. Employment in our department provides a pathway to LCSW licensure as well as access to a broad range of continuing education, professional development and extra-curricular opportunities. The Derald H. Ruttenberg Treatment Center is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care to individuals with cancer, from diagnosis through survivorship and end-of-life care. The outpatient oncology social worker in this position will primarily support patients within the Neuro-Oncology program. This role focuses on addressing the complex psychosocial, cognitive, and functional needs of patients with primary neuro-oncology diagnoses, as well as supporting their families and caregivers throughout the disease trajectory. Responsibilities The social worker in this role provides comprehensive psychosocial assessments and delivers a full spectrum of interventions to patients and their families, including individual and group-based support. Responsibilities include assisting patients and caregivers in coping with chronic illness, navigating treatment decisions, addressing palliative and end-of-life care needs, and providing bereavement support. Additionally, this role involves helping patients access practical resources, including financial entitlements, home care services, and medication support. In addition, the social worker contributes to the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of oncology support programs in alignment with Commission on Cancer (CoC) standards. This position will also support cancer initiatives and programming more broadly. Qualifications NYS LMSW or LCSW. Experience providing psychosocial services, both individual and group, to adult patients with cancer and/or end of life. Knowledge of available cancer resources in the community. Excellent clinical, communication, collaborative, and organizational skills. Oncology experience preferred. Program development experience preferred. One year in current position unless a float in Oncology. Compensation The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $88691 - $101670.78 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need.
