Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program; master’s degree preferred. Licensed as a certified school nurse by the Massachusetts Department of Education. Minimum 5 years of experience in school nursing or a related field, including one management position. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED training. Familiar with student information systems; comfortable with data collection, management, and reporting. Skilled in tracking trends, activities, and outcomes; able to provide directed feedback and work collaboratively to strengthen health services provision. Responsibilities Manage the total school health service program, providing nursing leadership and preparing and administering the health services budget. Prepare a needs assessment for the CSHS grant using demographic, health, school system, and community data to identify the health needs of the student population. Plan and implement student health and healthy living initiatives; collaborate with nurses, students, staff, administrators, parents, and community agencies. Communicate with the school physician to manage standing orders, organize physicals, and initiate consultation on medical concerns. Collaborate with other school health service members, the health education team, DPH’s school health advisory committee, the local board of health, and community organizations to improve Billerica’s Health Services Department. Apply for and maintain registration permitting delegation of prescription medications to unlicensed trained school personnel; maintain training registration for administering epinephrine. Coordinate supply maintenance, inventory, and acquisition. Interview, orient, assign, and supervise qualified personnel for the school health program. Develop and implement written policies and protocols for clinical services and programs. Provide leadership in school-based and community emergency response, including bioterrorism and pandemic planning; pursue certification in NIMS, IC System, and HHAN for emergency preparedness. Develop and implement documentation systems at student and programmatic levels. Organize flu clinics and mandatory health screenings, including scheduling, billing, reimbursement, ordering, staffing, advertising, and administration. Promote referral mechanisms to community providers for child and adolescent health services. Coordinate ongoing professional development, facilitate workshops, and provide feedback to staff regarding educational and professional growth. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services or PE, Health/Wellness Coordinator. Job Requirements Required: CORI & Fingerprint clearance. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience. Master’s degree preferred. Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
