HR Compliance & Leaves Specialist (I-9) — Onsite Poway

We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resource Assistant to join the Labor Compliance team located in Poway, CA. Under general supervision, this position is responsible for administering I‑9 forms and verifications and participating in New Hire Orientation, fielding leave of absence requests, coordinating Employment Development and PFL paperwork, providing additional backup support for Leaves Administration team, including workers’ compensation and accommodations along with other supporting administrative duties as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains, processes, and compiles a variety of confidential and sensitive electronic and hard copy human resource records and statistics, which requires considerable use of tact and discretion in handling. Responds to general inquiries and provides routine information and guidance to employees, and other authorized parties and/or agencies. Updates and maintains human resource databases and/or electronic systems. Perform audits of data to ensure accuracy and completion. Provides routine information to employees on human resource matters. Assists employees in completing various human resource forms. May prepare requested reports on human resource, medical and leaves data tracking. With oversight, provides direction to employees surrounding company policy, labor compliance best practices, and federal and state employment regulations. Monitors the status of employees return to work, while working closely with managers and human resource business partners to ensure timely information is provided. Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices. Participate in special projects and performs other duties as assigned or required. Job Qualifications Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two or more years of progressive experience in human resources administration or a related field. Must be customer focused and have a general understanding of human resource policies, procedures and relevant regulations. This position is an onsite role and requires regular presence at the designated General Atomics location in Poway. Must possess: The ability to establish priorities. The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information. The interpersonal skills and written communication skills required to effectively interface with employees and applicants. The ability to accurately document and maintain records and files. Basic familiarity with office software. The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours as required. Experience in medical and disability leaves coordination as well as I-9 guidelines highly preferred.
