Job Description

The Environmental Service Attendant plays a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position supports infection prevention efforts by performing routine and specialized cleaning throughout patient rooms, clinical areas, and common spaces.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, and high-touch surfaces.
• Perform terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms following hospital protocols.
• Safely handle cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with OSHA and hospital guidelines.
• Remove trash, biohazard waste, and linen from designated areas.
• Restock supplies such as soap, paper products, and PPE.
• Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning.
• Support infection control standards, including proper PPE use and isolation-room procedures.
• Respond to cleaning requests from nursing and clinical staff promptly.
• Ensure all work areas meet hospital cleanliness and safety standards.

Essential Skills

• Expertise in janitorial, cleaning, housekeeping, mopping, sweeping, and custodial duties.
• Proficiency in patient room cleaning and sanitization, including daily cleaning, bed-making, trash removal, and restocking supplies.
• Knowledge of infection control practices, including proper disinfecting of high-touch surfaces, equipment, and isolation rooms.
• Skill in safe chemical and equipment use, following OSHA guidelines, PPE use, and proper handling of cleaning agents.
• Competence in floor care and common-area cleaning, including mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and maintaining hallways, waiting rooms, and restrooms.
• Professional and compassionate communication, interacting respectfully with patients, families, and clinical staff.
• Strong reliability and time management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred, with healthcare experience being a plus.
• Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety protocols.
• Comfortable working around patients, staff, and visitors in a hospital environment.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment and carts as needed.
• Strong reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail.

Work Environment

The role involves working in a hospital environment where interaction with patients, staff, and visitors is common. Employees are expected to adhere to hospital cleanliness and safety standards, using appropriate PPE and handling cleaning agents safely.

Must be able to work from 3pm-11pm

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $13.50 - $13.50/hr.
