Pay Substitute Cooks are paid an hourly rate of $13.75 on a bi-weekly pay schedule.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma
• Ability to read and understand menus and recipes.
• Able to follow verbal and written directions.
• Desire to work with children, have good communication skills and ability to work with students and faculty.
• Baking and cooking skills
• Must be able to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand on your feet for an extended time during the work day.

General Summary: This position provides assistance in the kitchen in the absence of a regular, permanent food service worker. A substitute food service worker is a variable hour employee in which, as of the date of hire, the employer cannot reasonably determine the average hours and thereby has no expectation for benefits.

Performance Responsibilities:

• Reports to the building office and building kitchen supervisor for required materials and instruction.
• Use a time clock to record hours worked according to district policies and procedures.
• Assist in the building kitchen with cooking, cleaning, point of service (cashier) and serving as assigned.
• Takes all necessary and responsible precautions to safeguard students, equipment and monetary transactions for the meal program.
• Conduct themselves in a professional manner dealing with students, kitchen supervisor and other faculty members.
• May perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the building kitchen supervisor
