Diesel Mechanic

Position Description Ryder is hiring an experienced Mid‑Level Diesel Technician in Youngstown, Ohio offering weekly pay, excellent benefits, and a technician career you can feel good about. Benefits Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour Certification Bonus up to $700 for each new ASE certification obtained Quarterly bonus up to $500 Sign‑on bonus: $1,250 at 30 days and $1,250 at 90 days Second shift 12:30 pm – 9:00 pm; Monday‑Friday weekdays; weekends off Medical, dental, and vision after 30 days 80 hours PTO in first year, starting Day 1 Yearly merit pay increases 401(k) company match PPE, uniforms, and boot allowance Paid training and tech tuition repayment up to $5,000 12‑week paid maternity leave subject to eligibility Employee discounts on tools, vehicles, travel, tech & more 15% company stock discount Military veterans receive an extra paid day off Top Tech Competition: earn $250 – $50,000 per year Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred) Vocational or technical certification or post‑secondary degree (preferred) More than two years of classroom training and/or related work experience Valid commercial driver license (Class A preferred) Must be able to obtain a CDL within six months after hire Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background check including last 3 years of employment drug/alcohol verification Responsibilities Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections Perform preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work, etc.) Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs Replace defective components as instructed Perform facility maintenance duties Interact with customers and drivers to determine nature of complaints Utilize shop management system and electronic documentation Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT) Perform other support duties as required to support operations, including service island support Equal Opportunity Employer Ryder is a proud equal‑opportunity employer and a drug‑free workplace.
