Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure the supply of medicines is within the law
• Ensure prescribed medicines are suitable for patients
• Maintain confidential records of all patients
• Advise patients about medicines, including usage and potential reactions
• Provide consultation on storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
• Offer services like smoking cessation, BP measurement, and cholesterol management
• Educate on handling medical devices
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
• Supervise pharmacy staff
• Maintain pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory
• Identify and communicate drug-related issues
• Collaborate with healthcare practitioners

Requirements of the Pharmacist

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
