Staff Nurse

Position Summary UI Health Care Department of Nursing seeks a 100% Staff Nurse to work in the Neurosurgery Clinic. Sign‑on incentive: up to $10,000. Duties Assess patients’ nursing care needs, evaluate effectiveness of care, and integrate nursing theory and research into practice. Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness. Assess patient health‑care preferences and expectations. Collaboratively coordinate the continuum of care across settings. Develop patient‑care plans based on the patient’s condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic factors to achieve expected outcomes. Implement patient‑care plans according to priority, documenting interventions and patient/family responses. Collaborate with patients and families to integrate their contributions into multidisciplinary care plans. Coordinate and implement transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care. Implement nursing interventions in accordance with department, division, and unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Follow universal precautions. Percent of Time 100% (40 hours/week) Salary $61,183 minimum at 100% effort. Salary commensurate with experience. Schedule Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour shifts within 7:30‑5:00 pm. No nights, weekends, holidays, or on‑call. Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA, MNHP) is required. Required Qualifications Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members. General computer skills. Current license to practice nursing in Iowa, required by date of hire. Desired Qualifications Baccalaureate or Master’s Degree in Nursing is highly desired. Active enrollment in a BSN program if the Baccalaureate degree is not yet obtained. Minimum one year of inpatient nursing experience. Ambulatory nursing experience. Nursing certification.
