Environmental, Health & Safety Manager

Salary: $ 95,000.00

We are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager for a well-established manufacturing operation in Northern New Jersey. This is a hands-on, on-site role for an EHS professional who enjoys being visible on the manufacturing floor and working closely with employees, supervisors, and leadership to maintain a strong culture of safety and compliance.

Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Environmental Health & Safety Manager:


#1. Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent education/experience


#2. 3-5+ years of EHS experience specifically in a manufacturing environment


#3. Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations / OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry


#4. Hands-on experience conducting safety inspections and incident investigations


#5. Experience developing and delivering employee safety training


#6. Strong knowledge of PPE, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), machine guarding and industrial safety


#7. Must be comfortable spending significant time on the manufacturing floor , not someone whose experience is primarily administrative/corporate EHS

Responsibilities of the Environmental Health & Safety Manager:


The ideal candidate will bring strong manufacturing EHS experience, OSHA knowledge, and a practical, proactive approach to workplace safety. Experience in foundry, metal casting, machining, aerospace, or similar industrial manufacturing environments is highly desirable.

• Develop, implement and maintain the overall EHS program
• Ensure OSHA compliance
• Conduct plant/floor safety inspections, JHAs and risk assessments
• Identify hazards and implement corrective/preventive actions
• Manage LOTO, machine guarding, PPE, electrical safety, fall protection, confined space, forklifts/PIT and respiratory protection
• Maintain OSHA records and coordinate OSHA inspections
• Establish and track safety KPIs
• Manage hazards involving molten aluminum, furnaces, high-temperature processes, metal dust, welding, grinding, chemicals and machinery
• Manage EPA and NJDEP environmental compliance, hazardous waste, air emissions, permits, regulated waste streams and environmental reporting
• Investigate accidents, injuries and near misses; conduct root-cause analysis and corrective actions
• Partner with HR on workers' compensation and return-to-work matters
• Develop and conduct safety training
• Maintain emergency action and response plans
• Drive safety culture, safety meetings, employee participation and continuous improvement/Lean/5S initiatives
• Preferred: OSHA 30, ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, ISO 14001, OSHA VPP, bilingual Spanish.
• Strong candidates may also have environmental compliance, hazardous waste, industrial hygiene, air permitting, NJDEP/EPA, ISO 14001 or AS9100 experience

Ideal candidates will have:

• Foundry or metal casting experience
• Aluminum casting experience
• Machining/manufacturing experience
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing

• Industrial hygiene / exposure monitoring
• AS9100 environment experience
• OSHA 30-Hour General Industry
• ASP, CSP, CIH or CHMM certification
• ISO 14001
• OSHA VPP experience
• Bilingual Spanish
