Position Overview:
The Packing & Shipping Supervisor is a key operational leader responsible for delivering a consistently excellent product experience to every customer. This role goes beyond day-to-day execution - it demands a team-builder who inspires accountability, drives continuous improvement, and fosters a culture of quality, safety, and collaboration. You will serve as the connective tissue between Customer Service, Production, and Logistics, ensuring seamless coordination and on-time delivery of embryos and eggs.

What You Will Lead

Team Leadership & Development

• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Packing & Shipping team, cultivating individual growth and collective accountability.
• Champion a culture of ownership - set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and recognize performance at all levels.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, and training efforts; ensure every team member has the tools and knowledge to excel.
• Manage scheduling, time approval, and workload prioritization to meet operational demands while supporting work-life balance.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

• Drive a continuous improvement mindset across all distribution functions - proactively identify inefficiencies and lead solutions.
• Oversee the full packing and shipping workflow, from finished product integrity through final delivery, maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes; translate findings into lasting operational improvements.
• Optimize coordination across internal partners - Customer Service, Processing, Production, and external carriers and freight forwarders - to ensure efficient, on-time fulfillment.
• Maintain accurate reporting: daily logs, trip sheets, flock inventory, and saleable egg reporting.

Regulatory Compliance & Government Relations

• Serve as the operational point of contact for TSA and government regulatory compliance related to shipping and logistics - building and maintaining strong working relationships with agency representatives.
• Ensure all shipments meet applicable federal, state, and agency-specific requirements; stay current on evolving regulations and proactively update internal processes to maintain compliance.
• Partner with freight forwarders and carriers to ensure proper documentation, chain-of-custody integrity, and adherence to import/export regulations for both domestic and international shipments.
• Lead internal readiness for audits and inspections; maintain organized, audit-ready records and documentation at all times.

Quality, Biosecurity & Compliance

• Champion quality standards and biosecurity protocols; lead by example in adherence to all SOPs and safety requirements.
• Maintain facility cleanliness, equipment calibration, and environmental monitoring (temperature, humidity) in the distribution cooler and building.
• Support special projects including breeder replacement egg selection and franchise placement in collaboration with senior leadership.

Planning & Resource Management

• Maintain optimal inventory levels of packing supplies and customer materials; anticipate needs and resolve gaps proactively.
• Contribute to departmental budget planning and cost management; identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Support succession planning and the development of backup capabilities for key technical roles within the team.

• Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams in a distribution, logistics, or operations environment.

• Strong cross-functional communicator - comfortable influencing without authority and building relationships across departments.
• Sound judgment in managing competing priorities with a bias toward action and follow-through.
• Proficient in relevant systems and reporting tools; comfortable working with data to support decisions.
• Familiarity with TSA regulations, government shipping compliance, or experience working directly with regulatory agencies - or a demonstrated ability to quickly develop expertise in a regulated environment.
• High standards for quality, safety, and cleanliness - and the ability to hold others accountable to the same.

Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 4+ years of related experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity
Availability: Must be available seven days a week; schedule flexibility required

Other: Proficiency with computer systems and reporting tools; must be able to read, write, and speak English

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on role in a distribution and cold-storage environment. You can expect to stand and move throughout the workday, operate within a controlled-temperature facility, and regularly handle product up to 30 lbs (and occasionally up to 60 lbs). Exposure to sanitation chemicals and moderate noise levels is part of the work environment. Close attention to visual detail - including color discrimination and depth perception - is essential.
