Mechanical Engineer - Turbine Mechanical Solutions

Based in Amherst, Wisconsin , you will support hydropower and turbine projects across North America—helping design, refine, and deliver mechanical solutions used in real-world power generation environments. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude or machine shop experience who is motivated to develop their skills designing mechanical equipment. Emerson Power & Water Solutions is an industry-leading controls automation business serving renewable (solar, hydro, wind), fossil (natural gas and coal) power generation, and water/wastewater industries. We specialize in modernizing plant control systems with advanced automation and instrumentation to support sustainability and infrastructure reliability. In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be: Support the design and execution of mechanical solutions for hydroelectric power and turbine systems Create and interpret mechanical drawings, including fits, tolerances, and assembly details Build 3D models and 2D drawings using tools such as Inventor, Fusion360, or AutoCAD Collaborate with fabrication teams, vendors, and field personnel to bring designs to life Apply practical knowledge from shop or field environments to solve engineering challenges Travel occasionally to customer sites, including hydropower plants, to support installations and project execution Who You Are: You adapt your approach to meet the needs of different situations and stakeholders.
