Class A Truck Driver

Job TitlePromptly and safely deliver lumber and building materials to customers. Provide excellent customer service. Assist in building orders, yard clean up or other job-related tasks as needed.Primary ResponsibilitiesProvide reliable, accurate and timely delivery service between branch location and customersHelp prepare material for shipment if necessaryMaintain the truck in accordance with inspection sheets and from instructions from yard foreman-dispatcherKeep truck clean and orderlyCarry necessary equipment such as ropes, corners, flags, flares and release forms alwaysSafely deliver all merchandise without damage to material, vehicle or propertyDemonstrate safe work habits and safe driving practicesDemonstrate flexibility in scheduling, overtime hours worked and tasks performed as business conditions dictateCharacteristicsHold a current Class A California drivers license, medical certification and excellent driving recordAble to work effectively with others to obtain customer satisfaction and promote Big Creek's image in a positive wayDisplay the ability to diffuse difficult customer situationsPractice good organizational skillsAble to communicate effectively with othersPunctual and promptAble to deal with interruptions without losing focus on a specific task that needs to be doneAble to lift 100 lbs. from the ground into the bed of a standard size pick-up truckPossess the basic math skills to count (tally) lumber efficientlyHave legible handwriting and understanding of technology with regards to phones, GPS, and our delivery system.Demonstrate a high level of safety consciousness.Have ability to read maps google/apple and find delivery sites in remote locations; skill in driving rural roads.Dress in a clean, neat, professional manner that is appropriate for the job. Leather Shoe/Boot, Big Creek Safety Vest, and assigned Big Creek apparel, including hats, shirts always while driving or in the yard.
