Correctional Officer Sergeant

The Florida Department of Corrections is seeking a Correctional Officer Sergeant for an internal promotional opportunity at Dade Correctional Institution in Florida City, Florida. This position is open to current FDC employees only. The salary for this position is $51,846.08 (minimum annually). Minimum qualifications include being at least 18 years of age, a U.S. citizen, possessing a high school diploma or equivalent, having completed the basic recruit training course for correctional officers, and having one year of experience as a certified officer with the State of Florida. Additionally, candidates must not have received a suspension within the past 12 months, an involuntary demotion within the past 24 months, or a performance evaluation rating below 3.00 within the past three fiscal years.

Specific duties and responsibilities include supervising inmates, managing inmate housing areas, enforcing rules and sanitation standards, transporting inmates, conducting head counts, maintaining custody and control over inmates, performing crisis intervention functions, maintaining facility security, providing emergency assistance, directing correctional officers, and attending mandatory and other required training.
