POSITION SUMMARY

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for maintaining, improving, and supporting facility infrastructure, manufacturing equipment, and industrial utility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations. This role provides engineering expertise in troubleshooting, equipment installation and commissioning, preventive and predictive maintenance, facility upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives. The Facilities Engineer also leads technical problem-solving, supports Maintenance Technicians, coordinates contractors and vendors, and manages engineering projects while ensuring compliance with applicable safety standards, regulations, and company requirements. This position works closely with Maintenance, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to minimize downtime, improve equipment reliability, and support overall facility and production performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide engineering and technical support for facility infrastructure and manufacturing equipment, including installation, relocation, commissioning, decommissioning, upgrades, modifications, and plant-layout changes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve facility and equipment issues involving HVAC, compressed dry air (CDA), electrical distribution, utilities, controls, equipment infrastructure, network drops, and other building or manufacturing support systems.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs to maximize equipment reliability, availability, and operating efficiency.
• Provide technical leadership and coaching to Maintenance Technicians on advanced troubleshooting, repair methods, equipment operation, maintenance strategies, technical documentation, and safe work practices.
• Develop and maintain equipment and facility maintenance standards, procedures, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, specifications, drawings, manuals, asset information, and spare-parts recommendations.
• Plan, coordinate, and communicate preventive maintenance, planned downtime, facility shutdowns, installations, construction activities, and engineering work to minimize disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate and manage suppliers, equipment manufacturers, contractors, landlords, utilities, municipalities, inspectors, system integrators, and other external partners to support facility operations, maintenance, audits, inspections, and projects.

• Conduct routine facility inspections, minor repairs, corrective actions, and facility-support activities, including procurement of supplies and materials.

• Identify, evaluate, and implement facility and equipment upgrades, retrofits, guarding, error-proofing, improvements, energy-efficiency projects, and reliability enhancements.
• Ensure facility and equipment modifications comply with applicable safety, electrical, environmental, machine-guarding, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and company requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of facility assets, equipment history, maintenance activities, repairs, projects, engineering changes, and other technical documentation.
• Provide engineering and technical support for facility or equipment emergencies, including planned shutdowns, weekends, holidays, and off-shift operations as required.
• Perform other engineering, facilities, maintenance, and technical duties or projects as assigned.

 QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Engineering, or a related engineering or technical field required.
• Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and relevant engineering experience may be considered where appropriate.

• Three or more years of experience in facilities engineering, manufacturing engineering, maintenance engineering, or a related technical engineering role.
• Experience supporting facilities and equipment in a highly automated, high-volume manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
• Experience with facility infrastructure, industrial utilities, equipment installation, commissioning, maintenance, and reliability improvement preferred.
• Experience managing contractors, vendors, engineering projects, and facility improvement projects preferred.
• Experience supporting off-shift, weekend, or 24/7 manufacturing operations preferred.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, preventive and predictive maintenance, and structured problem-solving methodologies preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Strong mechanical, electrical, controls, and industrial systems troubleshooting skills.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, compressed dry air (CDA), electrical distribution, facility utilities, industrial equipment, and general building infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of electrical systems, including distribution equipment, panels, disconnects, breakers, motors, controls, and related facility infrastructure.
• Ability to read, interpret, and troubleshoot electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, pneumatic diagrams, P&IDs, equipment manuals, control documentation, and technical specifications.
• Strong project-management skills, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, contractor coordination, and execution.
• Strong vendor and contractor management skills.
• Ability to make sound engineering decisions with limited on-site supervision and appropriately escalate technical, safety, and operational risks.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System.
• Ability to work flexible hours and provide technical support during emergencies, planned shutdowns, weekends, holidays, and off-shift operations as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Work is performed in a manufacturing and industrial facility environment, including production areas, mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, utility areas, rooftops, and other facility spaces.
• May require working around operating machinery, electrical equipment, compressed air, HVAC equipment, industrial utilities, noise, heat, and other manufacturing-related conditions.
• May require occasional climbing, lifting, walking, standing, and working in confined or restricted-access areas in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
• Must be willing and able to support emergency calls, planned shutdowns, weekend work, and off-shift activities based on business and operational needs.
