Join our team as a Network Engineer in support of our Public Safety Systems (PSS) program with the United States Navy.This position is based in San Diego, California, with a travel requirement of 50% or greater in support of CONUS and OCONUS operations. As a Network Engineer IV supporting Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC Pacific) Old Town Campus, you will provide advanced engineering, integration, and sustainment support to CNIC Public Safety Systems Ashore Programs. These programs are responsible for the design, procurement, integration, installation, and lifecycle sustainment of networked systems, hardware, firmware, and software that enable the protection of mission-critical assets and personnel from natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made threats.This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain/maintain/transfer your Secret clearance.In this role, you will:Engineer, configure, and sustain Cisco (Catalyst Switching and Routing, ISR VOIP Gateways, Firepower/ASA), Aruba (switching and wireless), Antaira switching network, Cambium microwave solutions, and Juniper (EX, QFX, SRX).Support end-to-end system lifecycle: staging, integration, testing, fielding, and sustainmentDeploy and troubleshoot networks in:NIWC labs and integration environmentsShore facilities and data centersIntegrate new systems into existing PSS networkImplement secure network architectures aligned with:Risk Management Framework (RMF)Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs)Vendor specific security guidancePerform system hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance validationConfigure and maintain:VLANs, trunking, QoS, and redundancy mechanismsVPNs (IPSec), ACLs, and firewall policiesRouting protocols (Static, OSPF, BGP)Support Aruba wireless deployments, including controller-based and distributed architecturesConduct site surveys, system installs, and operational verification testing during travelMaintain configuration baselines, diagrams, and technical documentationInterface with:Government customers/leadsProgram managersSerco and government cybersecurity and RMF teamsGovernment Wide Area Network (WAN) ProvidersTo be successful in this role, you will have:Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (Post-Employment)U.S Citizenship requiredMust meet DoD 8570/8140 baseline certification, such as:Security+ CE (minimum)OR higher (CISSP, CASP+, etc.)Juniper certifications (JNCIA or higher) or Cisco (CCNA or higher)A Bachelors DegreeOr a High School Diploma/GED with minimum 12 years of relevant network engineering experience (DoD or enterprise) in lieu of degreeMinimum 8 years of relevant network engineering experience (DoD or enterprise)Hands-on experience with:Juniper networking (Junos OS, EX/QFX/SRX platforms)Aruba switching and wireless (ArubaOS, Instant AP, Aruba Central)Cisco Switching and Routing (Catalyst, ISR) and Firewall (ASA, Firepower)Strong knowledge of:Layer 2 technologies (VLANs, STP, LACP)Routing (Static, OSPF, BGP)TCP/IP and SubnettingRADIUS AuthenticationExperience supporting mission-critical or classified systemsAbility to work in field/deployed environments with minimal supervisionAbility to support remote system with limited physical accessExperience with Navy Public Safety Systems desiredMust have experience with the implementation of vulnerability remediation and STIG configurations for system hardening.Ability to multitask and teach or assist others to resolve systems related issues.Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to create Standard Operating Procedure documentation for designs and implementation strategies for new hardware and software deploymentsAbility to produce system specifications, design requirements, test evaluation planning documents, and technical publications and reportsAbility to support projects at client sites where working conditions may varyAbility to travel as necessary (50% or more)Additional desired experience and skills:Ability to:Lift and rack equipmentWork in shipboard or confined spacesWillingness to travel frequently and on short notice in support of critical break-fix and troubleshooting efforts
