Air Force Civilian Career Training
Summary The primary purpose of this position is t o: Serve as an advanced trainee professional Safety Engineer, performing duties which are designed to progress the employee in the application of theories and principles to Safety Engineering assignments. This is a formal Air Force intern position, established under the Force Renewal/PALACE ACQUIRE (PAQ) program. This is a GS-07/GS-09 position developmental to the full performance grade level of GS-12. The intern receives formal and informal training. Learn more about this agency Duties Help
- Conduct inspections of operations and facilities where the type of hazard anticipated is low in nature and is predictable in advance.
- Conduct safety training, develop class schedules, maintain necessary records/data, maintain classroom equipment, facility, etc, under supervision of qualified personnel.
- Conduct portions of investigations of mishaps, and prepares and presents findings.
- Participate in established Air Force Occupational Safety Programs to Include Hazard Abatement, Confined Space, Ergonomics, etc.
- Conduct special assignments in keeping with the formal training plan.
- Employee must maintain current certifications
- Successful completion of all training and regulatory requirements as identified in the applicable training plan
- You will be required to serve a one-year probationary period
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship
- Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guidance
- Must sign a mobility agreement
- Permanent Change of Station (PCS) expenses may or may not be authorized. PCS expenses, if authorized, will be paid IAW JTR and Air Force Regulations
- A security clearance will be required
- Student Loan Repayment Program and/or Recruitment Incentive may be offered for eligible candidates
- Must meet suitability for Federal employment
- You will be in a probation period of one-year during PAQ internship
- Disclosure of Political Appointments
- Successful completion of all training and regulatory requirements as identified in the applicable training plan
- Must meet suitability for Federal employment
- Grade Point Average - 2.95 or higher out of a possible 4.0
- Participant Agreement
- Orientation program
- Mentorship throughout the Program
- Individual Training & Development Plan to assist with career planning, professional development, and training activities
- At least 40 hours of formal, interactive training each year of the Program
- Opportunity for career advancement
- Recent Graduates who are selected for conversion must have completed all requirements of the program successfully
- Demonstrated successful job performance consistent with the applicable performance appraisal program
- Met the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) qualification standard for the position to which the Recent Graduate will be converted
