Behavioral Health Technician/Vocational Specialist

Behavioral Health Technician/Vocational Specialist LINES OF AUTHORITY: This position is supervised by the Program-relevant Clinical Site Supervisor and/or Clinical Director. This position does not supervise any personnel; however, the position requires participation in peer review activities. The position may function in any of the Clinical Departments providing services to either children or eligible adults.
POSITION SUMMARY: The BHT may provide multiple services to clients and families, including, but not limited to Child and Family Team/Adult and Family Team facilitation, Case Management, Life Skills Training, Family Support, Vocational, and Health Education. The BHT is credentialed to complete assessments and has completed the Child and Family Team Facilitator credentialing process, as relevant. The BHT may be assigned as a Managing Clinician to enrolled members on their caseload. Services are provided under the direct clinical oversight of a Behavioral Health Professional. PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. The primary responsibility of the Managing Clinician is to provide clinical expertise and oversight of the person's care, ensure the clinical soundness of the assessment/treatment process, and serve as the point of contact, coordinating and communicating with the person's team and other systems where clinical knowledge of the care is important. Provides evidence based services in individual, group, and family settings.
2. Assesses clients through ongoing processes such as the strengths-based assessment, activities assessment, co-occurring/substance use assessments, risk assessments and annual assessments to monitor the progress of the client and family toward their goals. 3. Assists the client/family in creating a safety/crisis plan and provides crisis intervention services to individuals in emergency situations, as evidenced by the written safety crisis plan in the record and overall record review.
4. Engages with the client, family and other involved parties through face-to-face and phone interactions and works with the client and family to build trust, encourage hope, and ensure ongoing engagement in behavioral health services. 5. Participates in the development and monitoring of Behavioral Health Service Plans (BHSP's), as evidenced by the service plan and service plan updates. 6. Assists client/families in finding necessary resources other than covered services to meet basic needs. 7. Maintains client records in compliance with Mohave Mental Health Clinic, Inc., ADHS, RBHA/health plans, AHCCCS and Joint Commission standards.
8. Completes 72-hour removal assessments on children in Department of Child and Family Services' system to identify urgent behavioral health needs, as evidenced by completion of timely assessments and related documentation. 9. Performs the functions of a Dedicated Case Manager (DCM) when assigned identified high needs children and maintains a caseload not exceeding state caseload limits, developing a highly integrated wrap-around plan with the child and family team. The DCM works at linking and referring families to services, preventing out of home placement and advocating for child and family in the education setting, as evidenced by clinical record review and CFT observation. 10. Communicates and coordinates client care with family members, behavioral and medical health providers and community teams and resources as evidenced by clinical documentation and releases of information. 11. Ensure continuity and coordination of care and assesses the progress and level of functioning of the family as evidenced by chart review and successful facilitation of the Child and Family/Adult Team processes.
12. Provides behavioral health covered services to clients when medically necessary and appropriate, meeting the agency's direct service standard of 1248 hours annually. 13. Completes all required documentation related to individual and group service delivery, including necessary enrollment, ongoing assessment, and discharge processes. 14. Provides customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
15. Participates in the Performance Improvement processes in the Clinic.
16. This employee must work well under pressure meeting multiple and sometimes multiples and sometimes conflicting deadlines. The employee shall at all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
18. Able to effectively de-escalate clients using techniques as trained and outlined in approved crisis intervention models. PRIMARY CONTACTS:

- Interfaces with peers, clinical team members and managers, and internal /external customers and stakeholders
- Collaborates with community resources/referral agencies
- Bachelor's degree in Social Services, Psychology, Applied Psychology, Social Work or other behavioral health related field or;
- Associate's degree in a behavioral health related field with one year of full-time work experience providing behavioral health services or;
- High School Diploma or GED and three years' experience providing behavioral health services to adult mental health, seriously mentally ill, substance use or children.
- Valid AZ driver's license and proof of insurance
- Arizona fingerprint clearance
- At least 21 yrs. of age
- Current CPR and First Aid certification
- Prior experience working with individuals and families in a variety of settings.
- Experience working with clients with complex emotional needs
- Knowledge of community resources available, including benefits and entitlement process, as well as an understanding of managed care.
- Understanding of client/family-centered care model
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate a team or group
- Complex problem-solving skills including conflict resolution skills
- Ability to type and effectively navigate computer programs, as well as copier, fax
- Resource management skills
- The relationship of each member's physical status to the substance use
- The nature of the emotional compulsion to use alcohol and/or other drugs
- The intensity of the member's preoccupation with using alcohol/and/or other drugs
- Interpret information about a member's use of alcohol and/or other drugs
- Develop a written summary and/or treatment plan based on member's problems and needs;
- Provide appropriate services
