At Moog we have a culture of trust and mutual respect; and for you, working with us can mean deeper job satisfaction, better rewards, and a great quality of life inside and outside of work.To be considered for the role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:Bachelor of Science in manufacturing, industrial, mechanical or a relative engineering discipline with experience in the manufacturing of aerospace manufactured componentsAdditional seasoned experience in manufacturing engineering that would be equivalent to what is learned in a degreed program would be considered as an acceptable alternative to the Bachelor of Science Degree requirementMinimum 3 years of progressive experience in the field of manufacturing engineering, preferably with aerospace cylindrical steel componentsResults oriented team player with effective and strong verbal and written communication skillsIt’d be great if you also had:Experience with NX & Team CenterPrevious experience with creating manufacturing processes for aerospace cylindrical components with gears and / or splinesStrong knowledge of gears / splines manufacturing processesStrong knowledge of gears / splines inspection methods and toolsExperience with CMM (Zeiss) inspection methods and reportsPrevious experience in the aerospace manufacturing industry and familiarity with AS9100 requirementsOrganizational and time management skillsStrong knowledge of the following machining processes:TurningMillingOD/ID, Surface, and Jig GrindingFamiliarity with the following Gear machining processes:ShapingHobbingBroachingGear GrindingModerate knowledge of the following processes:Heat Treatment, including carburizing, nitriding, and core hardeningPlating processes, such as cad plating, zinc-nickel plating, chrome platingNDT: Magnetic particle inspection, Nital Etch Inspection, Hardness Testing.Aerospace Painting processesStrong knowledge of:3D Modeling best practices and principlesGDT, Engineering Drawings Interpretation and creationFixture and Tool DesignInspection methods, tools and best practices for relative hardware (Cylindrical, small to mid-size geared components)Employment of various quality processes, such as 5 Why’s and Fishbone diagrams, to perform Root Cause analysis and provide robust Corrective Action for low yield processes and/or non-conforming hardwareStrong knowledge of machining properties for various aerospace steels, such as carbon steels, stainless steels, carburizing steels, nitriding steels, aluminum, etc.As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will perform routine manufacturing engineering work requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. The primary area of responsibility is developing and maturing manufacturing processes for production hardware.Key responsibilities:New Product Introduction (NPI):Performing drawing reviews to ensure the application of DFMA principles.Development of quality based and cost effective manufacturing processes.Tooling design for all operations requiring holding fixtures and / or specialized cuttingPerforming critical analysis during prove out of manufacturing processes, troubleshooting and revising as necessary to achieve the targeted quality yield and efficiency.Legacy Programs and Production Environment:Work with the operations team to support continuous improvement activities in the machine shop during the fabrication of complex parts and sub-assemblies.Reviewing existing manufacturing plans on legacy hardware to ensure compatibility of engineering drawings with fabrication capabilities.Making recommendations for improvements and drawing updates to enhance yield and production, as well as the implementation of Automation, Advanced Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.
