Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC), a division of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides comprehensive physical, mental, dental, and sex offender treatment services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system. UCHC employs approximately 1,000 staff and operates with a $150 million budget. Position Summary Rutgers University Correctional Healthcare seeks a Full‑time Staff Nurse for the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, NJ. The Staff Nurse will utilize the nursing process to deliver ambulatory care, collaborate with health professionals and security staff, and support the health and well‑being of the inmate population. Key Duties Provides direct and indirect nursing care to meet physiological, psychosocial, and emotional needs of inmate‑patients, including adults (18‑64) and geriatrics (65+). Communicates effectively, demonstrating respect, concern, and courtesy in all interactions. Applies current knowledge to promote a safe environment for delivering health care to inmate‑patients. Qualifications Minimum requirements: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. License to practice in New Jersey. CPR certification required. Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle or alternative transportation. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent. Minimum 1 year of experience in a correctional setting. Salary Grade 01D. Minimum salary: $37,230. Mid range: $46,540. Maximum: $54,050. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage. The position requires a full onsite work arrangement at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility, Clinton, NJ. Physical Demands As a first responder must have sufficient physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes; lift an emergency treatment bag weighing up to 45 pounds; assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).
