Job Description The Maintenance Supervisor oversees repairs, preventive maintenance of equipment, machinery, and buildings. It develops the maintenance team through coaching, feedback, and continued training, initiates, implements, and manages the plant maintenance program based on best practices, with emphasis on planning/scheduling and preventive/predictive maintenance. The supervisor is responsible for the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment to mitigate risk. What You'll Do Developing maintenance procedures and ensuring implementation. Carrying out inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues. Checking electrical and hydraulic systems of buildings to ensure functionality. Managing relationships with contractors and service providers. Keeping maintenance logs and reporting on daily activities. Ensuring health and safety policies are complied with. Directly supervising employees and working closely with vendors and contractors. Interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders and assigning duties. Coordinating, organizing, and directing activities of maintenance crews. Assisting workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Maintaining proper inventories of required spares for efficient operations. Coordinating repairs and preventive maintenance with mechanical/electrical staff. Using technical knowledge, equipment documentation, safety procedures, and maintenance schedules to follow, improve, and develop preventative and routine maintenance programs. Devise and implement cost‑saving strategies. Developing and implementing methods and procedures designed to eliminate maintenance problems and improve product quality. Perform administrative activities such as scheduling crews, reviewing timecards, completing reports, conducting safety conversations, and other reporting. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Experience in planning maintenance operations. Solid understanding of technical aspects of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, etc. Working knowledge of facility machines and equipment. Ability to keep track of and report on activity. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities. Proficiency in written and verbal communication with good spelling and grammar. High attention to detail; demonstrates accuracy and self‑directedness. Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Ability to handle mental stress/pressure. Ability to work long hours in emergency situations, overtime or alternate shifts. Ability to effectively communicate on radio; and hear over equipment noise.
