Job Purpose And Summary As a District Support Pharmacist (DSP), you will model our values, support pharmacy teams across the district, and provide safe, accurate dispensing, counseling, and immunization services. You will cover pharmacist scheduling gaps and act as a front‑line manager when the Pharmacy Manager is absent. Responsibilities Manage and improve patient health through safe, appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunization practices. Travel the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and oversee pharmacy operations as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy. Ensure prescription fulfillment follows pharmacy workflow procedures and safety guardrails. Act as the day‑to‑day Pharmacy Manager when serving as the only or primary pharmacist‑on‑duty. Show empathy and genuine care to patients, coaching the team to provide compassionate care, collaborating with the healthcare team, and resolving insurance or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations, supporting Pharmacy Technicians in learning immunization skills. Oversee inventory management, including cold chain products, in all pharmacies worked. Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs while contributing to a safe, inclusive, engaging team dynamic. Maintain clinical and technical skills through required trainings, CMEs, and ongoing learning. Deliver pharmacist‑led clinical care such as testing and prescribing services (e.g., COVID/Flu, hormonal contraception) where permissible. Understand and comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies to support patient safety and privacy. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located. Active National Provider Identifier (NPI). Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list. Essential Functions Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require. Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends. Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe. Attention and Focus: Concentrate on a task over a period of time. Pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs. Confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety. Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people in a friendly manner. Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately. Communication Skills: Use verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues. Practice active listening, asking questions, and not interrupting. Mathematical Reasoning: Use math to solve problems such as determining total tablets to dispense, day’s supply, and additional bottles needed. Problem Resolution: Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action when faced with multiple options. Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods. Lift, scan, and bag items; reach overhead; stretch or grasp items. Move fingers repetitively; typing or other fine‑motor tasks. Extend hand(s) and arm(s) in multiple directions to place, move, or lift items. Control precision and adjust machines quickly. Stoop to a considerable degree, requiring use of lower extremities and back muscles. Maintain close visual acuity for tasks such as transcription or small part inspection. Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs and/or exert up to 20 lbs of force; frequently up to 10 lbs; otherwise minimal force required. Express or exchange ideas verbally where detailed instructions must be conveyed accurately. Receive detailed information through oral communication. Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager. Preferred Qualifications 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
