\nPOSITION(S) SUMMARY \n
\nDiagnose the presence and stage of diseases using laboratory techniques from Fine Needle Aspirations and Non-Gynecological specimens.\n
\n
\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n
\nMicroscopic examination of prepared tissue sections, smears and Thin Prep cytospins from a variety of body fluids. \n
\nIdentifies the etiology, pathogenesis, morphological change, and clinical significance of slides reviewed. \n
\nProvides diagnostic information to the treating/referring physician in the form of a written pathology report and a call back when warranted. \n
\nConsults with referring physicians about ordering and interpreting tests or providing treatments. \n
\nParticipates in proficiency testing programs and intradepartmental meetings to establish measures to ensure and improve accuracy of diagnoses and quality of care. \n
\nParticipates in professional organizations, conferences and seminars to keep abreast of developments in pathology. \n
\nParticipate with training and educating laboratory personnel, students, and residents in the processing of specimens. \n
\nRequired to take photomicrographs of diagnostic significance for patient reports. \n
\nConsult with peers on difficult cases as required. \n
\nMay be asked to testify in depositions or trials as an expert witness.\n
\nComplete annual training programs within the required timeframe and regularly attends staff meetings. \n
\nMaintain strict patient and business confidentiality. \n
\nComplies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals. \n
\nAdherence to CAP, CLIA, Joint Commission, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations. \n
\nPerforms other duties as assigned. \n

\nPERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS\n

\n"    Sufficient time on-site to effectively complete daily assignments\n
\n"    Active participation in the company quality management system program.\n
\n"    Management of adverse outcomes and non-conformities.\n
\n"    Participation in on-site survey with results given in proficiency testing.\n
\n
\nPOSITION REQUIRMENTS: \n
\nCompletion of an approved four year residency in anatomic and/or clinical pathology. \n
\nBoard certified in anatomic pathology by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology or possess qualifications that are equivalent to those required for such.\n
\nHold Board certification in Cytopathology. \n
\nSuccessful completion of a pre-employment visual color discrimination test. \n
\nComplies with Board of Medicine on annual continuing medical education requirements. \n
\nGain/Maintains appropriate medical staff membership and privileges at applicable medical facilities. \n
\nHold an active New York State license.\n
\n
