The White River Junction VA Medical Center is a full-service tertiary VA facility serving veterans across Vermont and parts of New Hampshire. Services include primary care, specialty medical and surgical care, mental health services, rehabilitation, and community-based outpatient clinics. The facility maintains an academic affiliation with Dartmouth's Geisel School of Medicine, supporting residency training, research collaboration, and a strong interdisciplinary clinical environment.



General Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic imaging procedures including routine radiography (e.g., chest, extremities, spine, abdomen).
• Position patients correctly to obtain optimal diagnostic images while ensuring comfort and safety.
• Operate and maintain radiographic equipment in accordance with departmental and regulatory standards.
• Apply radiation protection principles (ALARA) to minimize patient and staff exposure.
• Review physician orders and patient history to determine appropriate imaging protocols.
• Ensure proper patient identification and informed consent procedures.
• Monitor patients during procedures and respond appropriately to adverse reactions or medical emergencies.
• Evaluate images for quality and repeat studies when necessary to ensure diagnostic value.
• Maintain accurate documentation in PACS, RIS, and electronic medical record systems.
• Follow infection control and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with radiologists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to support patient care.
• Participate in quality assurance, equipment calibration checks, and continuing education activities.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) (R).
• Current state licensure (as required by state regulations).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of radiographic positioning, anatomy, physiology, and radiation physics.
• Ability to operate imaging equipment and related software systems.
