We are seeking a Risk Management Actuary to join our client's growing team. Our client is a leading regional carrier. About the Role The Risk Management Actuary (“RMA”) plays a key role in supporting our client, a leading A+ rated carrier, with enterprise risk management and underwriting decision‑making. The role focuses on portfolio risk evaluation, pricing adequacy, reinsurance support, and financial risk analysis. The RMA partners closely with Underwriting, Pricing, Reserving, and senior leadership to ensure pricing structures, risk transfer strategies, and portfolio monitoring practices support profitable, sustainable growth. The ideal candidate is technically strong, collaborative, and able to translate complex data into actionable insights. This role requires delivering high‑quality, well‑documented analyses that support sound pricing decisions, effective risk oversight, and disciplined capital management. Responsibilities Lead preparation, validation, and submission of reinsurance data packages, including exposure, loss, and modeled output data for treaty placements. Support reinsurance treaty renewal efforts, including responding to reinsurer data requests and conducting follow‑up analyses. Evaluate reinsurance structures, retentions, and limits through financial and risk‑based analyses. Support enterprise risk management through analysis of portfolio risk, premium adequacy, loss drivers, and concentration exposures. Provide analytical support for internal and external reporting, including management, regulatory, and rating agency requests. Conduct and review pricing and rate indication analyses to support underwriting profitability and business unit goals. Collaborate with Underwriting and Pricing to evaluate rating structures, pricing assumptions, and portfolio performance trends. Monitor portfolio performance, renewal rate changes, and key risk metrics to balance growth, retention, and profitability. Work with Pricing, Reserving, and Modeling Actuaries to ensure consistency of data, assumptions, and results across actuarial functions. Design and implement analytical tools, dashboards, and process improvements to enhance risk monitoring and decision support. Perform ad hoc analyses related to large losses, emerging risks, and portfolio trends. Utilize Excel, SQL, Python, and other tools to analyze data, streamline workflows, and improve data quality and efficiency. Maintain documentation aligned with actuarial professional standards and the Casualty Actuarial Society’s Code of Conduct. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in insurance, risk management, economics, actuarial science, or a related field. Required: 5+ years of experience in the Property & Casualty insurance industry, preferably with a U.S. commercial insurer, with exposure to catastrophe modeling and/or reinsurance. Required: Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (FCAS). Required Skills Strong analytical and technical skills, including tool‑building and data manipulation. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently when needed. Ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve conflicts constructively. Proficiency in Excel, Word, SharePoint, and the ability to learn new systems and tools. Pay range and compensation package Salary range: $150,000–$250,000, plus potential incentive compensation.
