ER-Advanced Tech-Emergency Department-Variable Shifts

Job Summary The Emergency Services Advanced ER Tech provides appropriate basic and advanced life support in accordance with training and protocols to patients under Medical Control, ensuring the delivery of patient care. Performs routine specimen collections, electrocardiographs, tests, IV & IO catheters, intubations, and other technical procedures while maintaining required training and competency. Patient Care Performs phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, splint application, CPR, and medication administration per competency; initiates IV/IO, utilizes cardiac monitoring, defibrillation, pacing, and cardioversion; performs urinary catheters and assists with intubation. Operates and maintains equipment, performing testing efficiently. Obtains and documents vital signs, intake/output, and other designated data; collects specimens as required. Prioritizes duties according to current policy. Performs sterile urethral and cervical catheterizations; inserts IV & IO catheters. Conducts tasks in a proficient and professional manner. Complies with HIPAA regulations at all times. Assists with turning, lifting, and positioning patients for exams and procedures. Provides a customer‑service‑oriented environment. Responds to emergency situations in the hospital per policy. Documents all procedures accurately. Obtains equipment or supplies as necessary. Prepares rooms between patients, cleans, restocks, and maintains the area. Assists physicians and nurses with physical examinations and treatment. Transports patients to other departments; may transport patients with IV fluids, antibiotics, or other infusions, and monitor blood infusion as needed. Provides wound care (shaves, preps, cleans, and dresses with sterile technique). Maintains a clean work area in patient rooms. Communicates verbally with team members to coordinate patient care. Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED Equivalent. National Paramedic Certification. Licenses and Certifications ACLS PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support CPR – Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation Work Experience 1–3 years of prior direct patient care experience. Skills and Abilities Complete in‑house computer training and basic orientation. Prior experience or training in customer service. Basic computer skills and competency on annual educational requirements. Effective communication, organizational, interpersonal, and telephone etiquette skills. Knowledge of regulatory standards and ability to recommend process improvements. Prioritizes work, multitasks, and uses time, supplies, and equipment efficiently. Maintains safe work areas and follows OSHA and infection control policies. Acts professionally, respects privacy and dignity of patients and visitors, and advocates for patient preferences. Conducts data collection, prepares reports, and analyzes trends for continuous improvement. Physical Demands Standing, walking, and running frequently. Sitting occasionally. Lifting/carrying up to 100 lbs frequently. Pushing/pulling frequently. Climbing and balancing occasionally. Stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching regularly. Speaking and hearing constantly; repetitive motions frequently. Eye/hand/foot coordination frequently.
