Field Service Technician (Macon, GA)

Field Service Technician (Savannah, GA) Position Summary: Perform service (preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades, and refurbishment) on Hiab equipment at external and Hiab locations in accordance with Manager’s instructions. Manage customer relationships and adhere to best practices in all administrative and technical activities. Main tasks and responsibilities Technical and Product Knowledge: Stay current with technical developments, service bulletins, and technical courses. Managing the Customer: Respond to customers as instructed by the District Service Manager to maximize satisfaction; follow Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines. Risk Management: Protect self and others, comply with safety rules, and alert the District Service Manager if equipment safety is jeopardized. Operate and maintain assigned service vehicle in compliance with Hiab driving policy and relevant regulations. Service Process: Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan, and conduct service or repair; submit regular reports; keep adequate records. Commercial Awareness and Cost Effectiveness: Plan and manage time and resources; make cost‑effective decisions; maintain accurate invoicing and part security. New Business Opportunities: Recognize sales opportunities and communicate to the District Service Manager. Continuous Improvement: Provide feedback for quality improvement; participate in innovation; coach junior colleagues. Professional Conduct: Conduct self in a manner that promotes a positive image of Hiab; follow quality system rules. Other duties as assigned. Accountabilities Obtain and maintain a 1‑year DOT Medical Card. Mobile and adaptable; work in variable physical site conditions without direct supervision. Qualification from higher vocational school (below graduate/BSc) in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics/electronics or equivalent experience. Working technical knowledge of all Hiab product lines (mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, electronics). Working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems. Fluent in local language; working knowledge of English (spoken and written). Operator licenses for all equipment required. Maintain records in compliance with terms and conditions of agreements. Understand and comply with Hiab USA operating and technical procedures and workplace instructions. Understand, monitor and comply with all safety and environmental requirements. Own required tools. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required; technical or secondary college preferred. Minimum 3 years mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical operations experience preferred. Customer‑oriented, able to cope with stress, operate independently, and possess diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Responsible, hands‑on, capable of safely operating equipment for testing and repair. Basic computer skills.
