Operations Support Engineer (SE) - Senior Tech Lead

Position Title: Operations Support Engineer (SE) - Senior Tech Lead Location: Tampa, FL (USSOCOM HQ) Position Overview: The Operations Support Engineer (SE) - Senior Tech Lead provides expert‑level technical and operational support across SOCOM and Joint Staff missions. This position supports global, theater‑level operations, enabling mission success through system integration, training, software implementation, and synchronized situational awareness. Engineers in this role must have strong familiarity with operational environments, Joint and SOF processes, and Command and Control (C2) systems such as Common Operational Picture (COP), Tactical Data Links (TDL), and Operational Area of Interest (OAI) systems. Key Responsibilities: Provide technical leadership and oversight, ensuring that technical solutions align with the enterprise’s overarching goals and requirements. Work collaboratively with vendors and PMO teams; the Technical Lead ensures projects adhere to the Software Acquisition Pathway, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures for validating program features and epics through the SAFE/AGILE process. Actively engage in technology selection, collaborating with the team to identify and implement appropriate technologies and frameworks for project execution. Implement and enforce best practices for testing and documentation. Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to enterprise needs, making well‑informed recommendations for updates or changes to the technology stack. Collaborate with site leads to align technical strategies directly with overall project and organizational goals. Identify and mitigate technical and cyber security risks associated with projects, proactively averting challenges that could impact project timelines and deliverables. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of experience integrating multiple operational intelligence applications and data services to create real‑time shared situational awareness of disparate information for decision support to commanders at strategic to tactical levels.

ACTIVE TS/SCI

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field. DoD IAT 8570 Level II or higher is required. Preferred Skills & Tools: Demonstrated knowledge of C2 systems, CIP/COP platforms, and operational task organization structures. Experience supporting geographically dispersed units and reporting operational capability gaps. Strong oral and written communication skills for technical training and coordination. Experience in implementing, training, and documenting software systems, including SOCOM or Joint operational platforms. Proven leadership and/or coordination across Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces. Experience in operational planning, software fielding, and mission command integration. Participation in or leadership of AoR‑level working groups and technical forums. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
