Financial Aid Advisor

Your Role on the Team The Financial Aid Advisor applies professional financial aid concepts to a limited number of aid functions. The role includes interpreting standard policies, procedures, and regulations, advising students and parents on university, federal, and state financial aid programs, confirming documentation eligibility, and processing documents for initial and follow-up evaluations of student files. Qualifications Basic knowledge of financial aid policies, regulations, and practices. Basic knowledge of student loan programs and federal loan processing systems. Basic understanding of university policies, processes, and procedures. Basic knowledge of advising and counseling techniques. Ability to apply policy knowledge to individual student situations. Problem‑identification and critical‑thinking skills. Accurate calculation of financial aid with strong attention to detail. Organizational skills and ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, active listening, and customer‑service orientation. Ability to assess processes and recommend improvements; strong interpersonal skills. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training. 1–3 years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with standard office, internet, and email applications. Knowledge of common university‑specific computer applications. Experience using complex databases. Experience with student financial planning or billing systems. Experience using content‑management software. Special Conditions Occasional or seasonal nights and weekends. Must complete and pass a U.S. Department of Justice background check. Onsite availability required; hybrid schedule possible after training. Total Rewards Hourly pay range: $28.07 – $28.07.
