You will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist and primary focus as an ICS Logistics Section Chief (LSC) and an ICS Communications Unit Leader (COML) during deployments..

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

• Serves as Logistics Section Chief (LSC) during deployments and activates and supervises ICS organization elements per the Incident Action Plan (IAP); provides facilities, services, people, and material in support of the incident; participates in the development and implementation of the IAP and supervises the branches and units within the Logistics Section.
• Serves as Communications Unit Leader (COML), responsible for developing plans, obtaining, distributing, and supporting operation of computer and radio incident communications equipment and the data management infrastructure to support information flow.
• Supports the development and implementation of the Information Management Plan elements specific to communication, responsible for providing guidance to the Planning Section Chief on incident specific communications procedures.
• Serves as a facilitator for Incident Management Team (IMT) workshops, providing ICS coaching for Incident Management Team workshops and exercises to improve the readiness of supported Coast Guard units.
• Designs network layouts, determines equipment and facility requirements to meet user objectives and provides capabilities to accomplish unit communications needs.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-12 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

• Experience with training/coaching, gathering and implementing lessons learned, and evaluation.
• Experience in ICS exercises/responses, development of plans and support for incident communications (i.e. ICS 205 (Incident Radio Communications Plan) and ICS 206 (Medical Plan).
• Experience preparing for and carrying out or coordinating emergency functions to prevent, protect from, mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters; and to aid victims suffering from injury or damage resulting from disaster caused by natural or man-made hazards.
