Critical Care/Trauma Physician

Overview:

A leading healthcare facility is seeking a Board-Certified Critical Care Physician for a locum tenens assignment in Salem, Massachusetts. This ICU-based opportunity offers flexible PRN night and weekend coverage in a collaborative teaching environment.

Position Highlights:

  • Specialty: Critical Care
  • Coverage Type: Scheduled Clinical Hours (No Call)
  • Setting: ICU
  • Start Date: August 24, 2026
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Schedule: PRN Nights & Weekends

Shift Options Include:

  • 7:00 PM 8:00 AM
  • 8:00 AM 7:00 PM
  • 2:00 PM 12:00 AM swing shift

Work Details:

  • 20-bed ICU
  • Average daily census: patients
  • Weekend census averages 8 10 patients with 2 attending physicians onsite
  • Supervision of Internal Medicine residents
  • Procedures may be required if residents are unavailable
  • PRN backfill coverage for scheduling gaps

Practice & Facility Details:

  • Practice Setting: ICU / Hospital-Based
  • EMR: Epic
  • Patient Population: Adult
  • Support Structure: Internal Medicine residents typically perform procedures with attending supervision

Clinical Scope:

  • Critical care management of adult ICU patients
  • Oversight and supervision of residents
  • Procedures as needed
  • ICU rounding and documentation
  • Collaborative inpatient critical care coverage

Requirements:

  • Board Certified in Critical Care
  • Active Massachusetts license required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
