School Occupational Therapist | New Castle, Delaware

Make a significant impact by supporting students and families as an Occupational Therapist in a dynamic school-based role. This contract position is situated near New Castle, DE, and concentrates on fostering students' growth and independence across a variety of settings. There's also the exciting potential for a need in the Non-School Year (NSY) period, offering expanded opportunities to make a difference year-round!


Ideal candidates will feel at ease working as part of a collaborative educational team, enjoy the variety of both school-based and home health environments, and bring a passion for enhancing students' abilities and daily life skills.


Qualifications:

  • Licensed Occupational Therapist with credentials valid in Delaware
  • Experience working in school-based settings is highly desirable
  • Background in home health or healthcare-related OT is a strong advantage
  • Ability to adapt interventions to individual student needs and environments
  • Effective communicator with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Flexible approach to shifting assignments and evolving caseload needs
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess students' functional and developmental abilities within classroom and home settings
  • Develop and implement individualized OT intervention plans aligned with IEP goals
  • Collaborate with teachers, special educators, counselors, and families to promote student success
  • Support transitions between in-school and home-based services as needed
  • Document sessions, progress, and outcomes in compliance with school and state standards
  • Participate in meetings and ongoing training to maintain best practices in therapy
