Estimating Assistant

Schedule: Five days per week in the office Company Croxall Construction Companies, LLC is a family-owned construction company based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, with residential, commercial, and painting divisions. Position Summary The Estimating Assistant gathers pricing from trade partners and helps prepare project proposals. This position follows up with trade partners to obtain complete, accurate information on time and enters that information correctly into company software. Position Expectations Email and call trade partners to request pricing and other project information. Must be able to clearly relay and discuss project data. Organize bids, photographs, and other project documents in the appropriate shared drives and software so they can be found and used later. Be able to support the Director of Preconstruction during pre-bid site visits by asking clients project-related questions, taking photographs, and documenting site conditions as needed. Follow established processes to produce consistent and complete work. Share questions, updates, and concerns with the Director of Preconstruction as needed. Provide daily updates to the Director of Preconstruction about issues, concerns, and project risks. Help move awarded projects from estimating into construction. Participate in handoff meetings with project managers and make sure information from the preconstruction software is transferred to the production software for tracking. Be able to prepare material takeoffs using estimating software, identify differences or missing information, and check calculations for accuracy. Requirements Required Strong attention to detail. Working knowledge of both residential and commercial construction. High ability to follow up, ask thoughtful questions, and investigate information that appears incomplete or unexpected. Ability to communicate clearly in written and spoken English. Ability to read residential and commercial construction drawings. 1-3 years of construction experience. High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Requirements At least one year of estimating experience. Basic understanding of the preconstruction process. Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus. Experience with Bluebeam or similar estimating software. Experience with PlanHub or similar preconstruction software. Associate or bachelor's degree. Skills Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively. Ability to work on multiple projects in different stages simultaneously Readiness to follow up consistently with vendors by email, phone, or text. Ability to work effectively with trade partners and coworkers across different roles. Ability to gather and organize information from multiple sources. Ability to ask clear questions to confirm that information is complete and accurate. Ability to communicate clearly and identify possible project risks when needed. Ability to organize information so it is easy to find, understand, and use. Physical Requirements This position requires extended periods of computer work and the ability to type. The employee must be able to walk through active construction and demolition sites; communicate with vendors and coworkers; review materials, buildings, and construction drawings; and lift up to 20 pounds to move materials when needed.
