About the Position

The Exercise Specialist will be working with the Reid Fitness Services (i.e., Yoga, Rock Steady Boxing, H.I.I.T. Boxing, Fall Prevention, Medical Fitness, CancerFit). Duties include covering the current and new Reid Fitness Programs, including those that involve other disciplines. Primary responsibilities will be the preparation of equipment and areas, covering outreach locations, disinfection, and cleaning of exercise areas.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Perform the duties and responsibilities that are assigned by the Sports Medicine and Reid Fitness Manager.
• Perform the duties and responsibilities of a boxing coach
• Development and instruction of daily workouts for the different boxing programs
• Communication with the boxers and other coaches regarding the goals of the workout and explanation of the program
• Ability to recognize and help boxers in need by demonstrating proper form
• Able to provide appropriate first aid when required, including CPR.
• Cleaning and upkeep of equipment used in the exercise areas.
• Provide coverage at outreach location (Connersville).
• Ability to recognize poor form and demonstrate proper form for exercises with a focus on injury prevention.
• Assisting in covering all Reid Fitness programming.
• Knowledgeable of and participates in QA&I activities.
• Assist in promotion and marketing of Reid Fitness Services.
• Keep the Sports Medicine and Reid Fitness Manager informed of pertinent departmental occurrences and informs the manager of department needs.

Education & Experience

• Education Required: High school diploma minimum and actively pursuing a BS degree.
• Education Preferred: BS degree in exercise science, kinesiology, health/physical education, or other related degree/specialty.
• Experience Required: Some experience in exercise, experience with the geriatric population.
• Experience Preferred: 2+ years of experience with exercise.
• Experience working with a wide range of individuals.
• Experience creating specific workouts for individuals with specific health issues (Cancer, Parkinson's disease, etc.).

Licensure & Certification

• Certifications Required: BLS CPR, First Aid, or equivalent. Must have or meet the requirements to be eligible for the Rock Steady Boxing Coaches Certification. Must obtain Rock Steady Boxing Coaches Certification within the first 90 days.
• Certifications Preferred: Personal Training Certification, Exercise Physiologist, or other medical/exercise certification. Group Exercise, Personal Training.
