Operating Engineer Job Title: Operating Engineer (OE) – 5 Positions Location: Arnold AFB, TN Department: O & M/Flight – VKF Plant, Test Ops Employment Type: Regular Full‑Time Pay Type: Wage (Grade A21) Salary Range: $38.44 – $42.71 per hour Posting closes: June 23, 2026 at 11:59 PM CST Overview Beyond New Horizons (BNH) is seeking an Operating Engineer to support TOS II at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The selected candidate will work as part of an integrated team responsible for operating, maintaining, and supporting the United States Air Force Test Operations and Sustainability efforts. Job Summary Under general supervision, the successful candidate will perform technical, mechanical, electrical, and manual work in the testing, operating, and/or assembly and shop areas of an engineering test facility. Job Duties Prepare plant equipment for operations Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions Operate plant equipment during tests Install and maintain facility systems Perform maintenance and servicing to keep test facility equipment operational Use a wide variety of hand and machine tools, powered equipment, and measuring and testing equipment Instruct less experienced lower‑grade craftsmen Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed by supervisors and company policy Perform other duties as required Basic Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent Four years of experience as an Operating Engineer in an aeronautical test facility, or progressive experience in the trade (mechanical background supporting large plant systems such as boilers, chillers, compressors, hydraulic systems with operating pressures above 1500 psi, high or low pressure process control valves, evaporators, compressed air or water systems) Working knowledge of computers Valid U.S. driver’s license Ability to obtain and maintain certification to operate forklifts, JLGs, and overhead cranes Ability to read, write, and speak English for understanding and giving directions Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance and access to AEDC local area network Current U.S. citizenship required Preferred Qualifications Active Secret clearance Experience operating forklifts What We Offer Competitive salaries Continuing education assistance Multiple healthcare benefits packages 401(k) with employer matching Vacation, sick leave, and federally recognized holiday schedule Who We Are Beyond New Horizons (BNH) is a joint venture of Astrion and Fluor Federal Services, Inc., providing test operations and sustainment services for the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex.
