Clearance Requirement Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain & maintain an HSPD-12 & Secret Clearance. License/Certification Requirement State Certified Journeyman’s License or VMET Certification required. Responsibilities Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the facility are operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third‑party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations and support. Facility equipment that supports mission‑critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. Render assistance in administration and regulation of the duties of junior technicians and provide oversight of contractors’ roles for electrical duties. Analyze system requirements, conduct research on equipment and procedures and recommend modifications to new and existing systems. Install new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOPs, manufacturer’s literature, and industry best practices. Utilize safe working practices; apply lockout/tagout, MSDS, and good housekeeping methods, and possess basic computer skills. Troubleshoot, repair, and modify malfunctioning electronic units such as printed circuit boards, set‑up sensing mechanisms, and advanced electrical circuits. Perform maintenance, installations, and service repairs on critical data center systems and all industrial electrical equipment and systems, including power distribution components, wiring, electronic components, and lighting systems. Use appropriate test equipment, including infrared scanning and vibration analysis meters, to diagnose system and equipment performance. Log activities in CMMS. Perform daily walk‑throughs of the facility, documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, and alarm status, to identify discrepancies and trends, and monitor & adjust the BAS following MOPs and SOPs. Manage mechanical and electrical systems in emergency situations (HVAC components, power distribution equipment, generator systems, load‑transfer and control systems, UPS systems, DC power systems, fire and life safety). Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repairs; prepare and present cost estimates for parts, equipment, and supplies for proposed installations or repairs. Maintain relationships with all major vendor accounts. Schedule, coordinate, and oversee all critical environment vendors during maintenance, emergency, and break‑fix events to ensure personnel safety and power to critical loads. Set up and operate electrical data‑capturing devices (e.g., Dranetz, Fluke PQA). Create required MOPs and SOPs; perform periodic reviews of all MOPs and SOPs to keep techniques and safety guidelines current. Collect and generate internal and vendor field‑service reports describing all activities (preventive maintenance, repairs, etc.) performed at the facility; review all reports before submission to end users. Develop reliability reports to identify areas for increased efficiency, resiliency, or to mitigate unplanned downtime. Conduct training for junior technicians and other staff on maintenance, repairs, and operation of electrical equipment/systems. Qualifications Minimum 8+ years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma or GED. State Certified Journeyman’s License or VMET Certification required. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Understanding of power density and coordination with HVAC system capacities to meet availability and capacity targets. Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance. Work at heights up to 60 feet and climb/maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead routinely. Good vision (may be corrected), color vision, and ability to hear and communicate in English. Use a standard ladder without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools. Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong. Apply general rules to specific problems and produce logical answers. Combine information to form general conclusions or identify relationships among seemingly unrelated events.
