This is a customer service-focused position located on-site at the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Oversize/Overweight Permit Unit in Garner, North Carolina. This opportunity entails being responsible for analyzing the state highway system infrastructure and ordinance restrictions to establish a safe route for the movement of traffic and specialty vehicles.This position assists with inquiries from local state DOT Division and/or District field offices, the trucking industry, law enforcement agencies, other agencies, citizens, and lawyers primarily to provide guidance and interpretation of State General Statutes, State Administrative Code, Federal Bridge Law, and State DOT policies and procedures related to the movement and routing of loads, vehicles, and vehicle combinations that require permits including but not limited to, exceeding statutory limits.What you'll do:Evaluates the state highway system infrastructure for proposed routing of specialty vehicles requiring permits such as oversize and/or overweight trucks.Utilizes mapping and other software applications to analyze and evaluate maps, bridge weight, and clearance data. Interprets truck route ordinance and establishes safe routing for vehicle/vehicle combinations in partnership with industry professionals.Processes transportation permit applications for appropriate agency.Maintains up-to-date training for Purchase Card Industry (PCI) standards.Performs other duties as assignedWhat you'll need:High School Diploma/GED or equivalentExcellent customer service skillsExperience with mapping or routing softwareExcellent written and verbal skillsLocations:Raleigh, NC (Raleigh Field)NOTICE TO THIRD-PARTY AGENCIES:HNTB does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruiters or agencies.
