Qual ity Assurance Technician – Food Manufacturing
Job Summary
We are seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to support quality and food safety activities in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for inspecting and testing products throughout the production process, monitoring quality standards, documenting results, and identifying issues that may affect product quality or food safety.
The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety, or food manufacturing experience, strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to analyze information and solve problems.
Shift: 3rd Shift, 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality inspections and testing at various stages of the production process.
- Test and evaluate products for temperature, defects, code dates, specifications, and other quality requirements.
- Collect and analyze production samples and accurately document test results.
- Review quality records, reports, and production documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Inspect incoming dry goods and verify materials meet established specifications.
- Verify product specifications before production startup and throughout the production process.
- Monitor production processes and communicate quality or food safety concerns to production personnel and Quality Assurance leadership.
- Identify quality issues and assist with determining appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform audits and quality checks to ensure production standards and procedures are being followed.
- Evaluate quality data and prepare reports identifying trends, deviations, or areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate records of quality metrics for ongoing data analysis.
- Collect and maintain production retention samples on a scheduled basis.
- Maintain calibration records and logs for laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Prepare laboratory equipment and solutions for testing.
- Perform general laboratory analysis and sampling of production products.
- Communicate directly with operators and production employees regarding quality requirements and issues.
- Assist with special quality projects, investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support the Quality Assurance Management team with additional quality and food safety activities as needed.
- Help identify opportunities to improve production quality, efficiency, and consistency.
- Follow all applicable food safety, quality, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
Qualifications
- 1+ year of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, Food Safety, or a related role in a manufacturing environment.
- Food manufacturing or food processing experience strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of food quality standards, procedures, and manufacturing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify product defects or quality concerns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to accurately document and maintain quality records.
- Comfortable working with production data and performing basic analysis.
- Strong problem-solving and logical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently while also communicating effectively with production and Quality teams.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn quality tracking and documentation systems.
Schedule
- 3rd Shift: 8:00 PM – 4:30 AM
- Must be comfortable working overnight hours in a food manufacturing environment.
- Overtime may be required based on production needs.
