Location and Job Title: Sunday Recreational Program Facilitator | Special Needs Department Shorefront YM-YWHA of Brighton Manhattan Beach 3300 Coney Island Ave Brooklyn, NY 11235 Principal Responsibilities: Bridge is a Sunday recreational and social program for neurodiverse adults designed to promote meaningful engagement, community inclusion, and positive social interaction. The Program Facilitator will support participants in recreational activities while fostering a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. This position is an excellent opportunity to gain hands‑on experience working with an adult neurodiverse population while enhancing and expanding knowledge, skills, and understanding of this community. Position Responsibilities Plan, coordinate, and facilitate recreational and social activities for program members Provide additional physical support and assistance to participants during activities, as needed Encourage positive socialization and engagement among members Monitor participant safety and appropriately manage behaviors within the program setting Escort participants to recreational activities within the facility and community areas, including table tennis, gym activities, outdoor recreation, and boardwalk walks Maintain accurate contact lists and communicate schedule updates or program changes with participants in a timely and professional manner Communicate effectively with care managers, family members, and caregivers involved in participant drop-off and pick-up Report behavioral concerns, maladaptive behaviors, incidents, or safety concerns to the program supervisor promptly and appropriately Support a respectful, inclusive, and participant-centered environment at all times Minimum Qualifications: Experience working with adults with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, or related populations preferred Strong interpersonal, communication, and behavior management skills Ability to facilitate group activities and encourage community participation Comfortable providing physical assistance and mobility support to participants when necessary Ability to maintain professionalism and communicate effectively with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary staff Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules and participant communications Ability to respond calmly and effectively in behavioral or emergency situations Physical requirements associated with participant support and program activities apply Completion of required sexual harassment prevention training required Salary: Under $25,000 #J-18808-Ljbffr JCC Association of North America
