Position: Graduate Assistant – Women's Basketball (Mesa) Reports to: Head Women’s Basketball Coach Rate: $7,200 stipend, prorated based on start date of the assignment. Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the women's basketball program with the recruitment and retention of student‑athletes while working to ensure the best student experience possible for the members of the Benedictine University Women’s Basketball Program. Essential Job Responsibilities: Assist the program with the identification and successful recruitment of qualified student athletes to help place the program in a position of competitive leadership in the GSAC (Great Southwest Athletic Conference). Coaching and mentoring student‑athletes, assisting with film breakdown, developing and implementing scouting reports, game and practice plans, and coaching in all traditional and non‑traditional segments to achieve competitive leadership in the GSAC. Assist the head coach, program, and university personnel with the retention of student athletes, including social and academic support, and monitoring academic progress. Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence with NAIA regulations and Sports Performance expectations during declared playing and practice seasons. Provide support to Benedictine Mesa Campus, Athletic Department and Physical Education Center. Other Functions: Develop relationships within Benedictine University and the University community. Attend departmental and university related meetings and events. Maintain a positive student athlete assessment for the program. Work in coordination with university offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate university events. Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans. Serve on university, conference and national committees as needed. Positively promote Benedictine University and the Department of Athletics on campus and in the community. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Must be enrolled as a Benedictine graduate student in good standing. Experience: Experience within a collegiate athletic environment preferred. Program Admission: Applicant must obtain acceptance into a Benedictine Graduate program (Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Business Analytics, Master of Science in Management & Organizational Behavior, or Master of Public Health). Specific Skills: Organizational, writing and typing, interpersonal, data entry and budget management, and supervisory skills. Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications: Valid driver’s license and CPR/First Aid/AED certification required within the first 90 days of employment. Physical Requirements: May be required to lift up to 50 lbs., reach, bend, stoop, lift, sit, walk or stand for long periods. Ability to handle varying levels of stress while maintaining a professional demeanor. Possible lifting, bending, walking, kneeling, stretching, and stooping. Frequent districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours; outdoor exposure to sun/heat or cold weather. Ability to speak clearly and understand speech. Must be able to stand for long periods. Travel: Yes Supervisory Responsibility: Yes Working Conditions: Office environment; nights and weekends required. Training: Must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
